Bert Newton rushed to hospital again
Just last month Aussie TV legend Bert Newton was treated in hospital for pneumonia – and it seems he isn’t quite in the clear.
The star was rushed back to Melbourne’s Epworth Hospital yesterday after suffering more complications from the illness, which first developed five weeks ago.
Sunrise has reported that the star is now suffering from anemia, and will be required to remain at Epworth for "a few more days" while he regains his strength.
The 78-year-old’s wife Patti was by his side when he was admitted.
“Patti definitely looked stressed, like something was really up,” an onlooker told Woman's Day.
“She was far from her usual calm self.”
KIIS FM reports that Bert has been undergoing X-rays to investigate the cause of the complications and lingering cough.
Meanwhile, a close friend of the couple told Woman’s Day that aside from these recent incidents, Bert has been hospitalised on “a number of unreported occasions”.
“Bert has a strong constitution,” the source adds.
“He will rally and say, ‘Stop worrying, I’m OK’, when doctors least expect it. They don’t make them like Bert anymore.”

Patti, 72, attended Sunday's Logie Awards sporting an image of her husband on the back of her gold sequinned blazer.
She sad on the red carpet that Bert wasn't feeling up to attending, "so I decided he couldn't miss it and brought him along anyway".
