Just over three years ago, Miley Cyrus gave her now-iconic twerking performance to open the MTV VMAs with Robin Thicke.
But the 24-year-old has a new look and new sound – and the outrageous booty shaking is a thing of the past!
During an interview with Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O on KIIS FM this morning, the star discussed how much she’s changed.
“Just three years ago I was sliding down my own tongue, and now I’m frolicking on the sand and in a field,” she laughed. “People change!”
When Jackie pointed out that she loved the tongue that Miley had at her concerts, the singer revealed that she attempted to move it into her house.
“I tried to put that tongue [as a slide] going into my pool. But I wasn’t able to!”
After chatting about her new, stripped-back sound on the new single ‘Malibu’, Kyle asked Miley if she’d “hung up her twerking pants”.
“I think I’m too lazy,” she answered. “I think I’ve been spending too much time at the beach and I’m too mellow or something.”
Kyle was equally upset to learn that Miley had given up smoking marijuana – a drug he’s been a vocal fan of in the past.
“I never make promises and I’m not a good person to say forever. But for right now dude, if you were living my schedule…I’m not digging smoking right now because I really want to be as present as possible,” she confessed to the radio duo.
“Right now isn’t a great time for me to be munching at home and playing video games!”
Today her new single was released along with a gorgeous video, featuring the singer in a field, on the beach, and playing with her dog.
The artwork for the single was shot by her fiancé Liam Hemsworth, who she was reunited with in 2016 after they split in 2013.
In a recent interview with Billboard magazine, Miley said she needed time away from Liam Hemsworth to change as a person.
“Suddenly you’re like, ‘I don’t recognize you anymore.’ We had to re-fall for each other,” she told the publication.
