'Sober' Brad apologises to Jen for first time

He admitted to giving up his vices in a revealing interview last month, and now Brad Pitt as taken the next step in his "recovery" and sobriety by apologising to ex-wife Jennifer Aniston!

According to claims published by Life & Style, it's the first time the 53-year-old has reached out and said 'sorry' to Jen following their 2005 divorce, when rumours swirled the actor had hooked up with Mr & Mrs Smith co-star - and soon-to-be ex-wife - Angelina Jolie.

"Brad apologised for all the heartbreak," an insider told Life & Style.

"He doesn’t usually open up like that, but through therapy and recovery, he’s learned to express his feelings. He addressed all the hurt he caused her."

The outlet reports that despite Jen's "anger" towards her ex, especially after Brad and Ange posed happily on the cover of W magazine shortly after their split, the Friends star was accepting of Brad's apology.

"She was really won over by his apology. A new era has begun for them," the insider adds.

"She was incredibly receptive to the amends he was making. She told him she forgives him and to focus on the future."

Brad's attempt to mend bridges with Jen comes as the actress celebrates her two-year anniversary with hubby Justin Theroux.

In a revealing GQ interview last month, Brad opened up for the first time about his split from Ange, and how it has affected the couple's six children.

The War Machine actor called the split "self-inflicted", while admitting his decades-long "boozing problem" contributed to the marriage ending.

"For me this period has been about looking at my weaknesses and failures and owning my side of the street," he told the magazine.
