The highest paid entertainer will shock you

Forbes has just released their 2017 Top 100 Highest-Earning Celebrities list and the star that has claimed the top spot may be a bit of a shocker.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, formerly known as Puff Daddy, has come in on top having raked in a total of $130 million from June 2016 to June 2017.

When did he last release a song, you ask? Doesn't matter!

The magazine states that it is Diddy’s partnership with Ciroc vodka, his Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour and selling one-third of his clothing line, Sean John, for $70 million that has gained him the number one spot.

The number two spot has gone to Beyoncé, with total earnings of $105 million, and the number three was taken by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling bringing in $95 million. Girl power!

“I’ve never met anyone that works harder than me in my industry,” Bey told the publication in 1999.

Taylor Swift topped the list in 2016 but has dropped to 49 on the list which isn’t surprising due to as she has been largely absent from the public eye this year and has not toured or released an album since 2015.

Drake scored spot number four followed by soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.

The rest of the top 10 was made up by The Weeknd coming in at number six, followed by Howard Stern, Coldplay, James Patterson and LeBron James.

New entries to the top 100 included Kylie Jenner, Amy Schumer, Chance The Rapper and Steve Harvey.

Despite spots number two and three being taken up by females, women comprised only 16% of the world’s top-earners in the entertainment world which unfortunately reflects the imbalance in pay between genders across the industry.

However, in the words of Beyoncé who runs the world? Girls!

Sorry, Diddy.
