Everything you need to know about Cian Twomey and his 'Emily' videos

Coming home drunk with your lippie smeared and chugging whipped cream out the can while squealing F-bombs at your boyfriend is a scene from every girl's life in their 20's right?

You’ll also know this exact scene from the viral When You Come Home After a Party video by everyone's favouite Internet guy, Cian Twomey.

He’s that Irish dude who nails the character of every overly-dramatic and sometimes demanding 20-something girlfriend.

Loosely based on Cian’s real makeup-blogger girlfriend Emily Rochford, Fake Emily goes on savage online shopping binges, blames her boyfriend for things he couldn’t possibly have done and swears like a trooper. Yah, she's a little bit psycho.

Are you saying “same” yet?

While the character is a tad exaggerated version of every millennial female, we can't get enough of Emily's crazy adventures with her BF Cian and neither can 5.5 million of people.

Yes, that's how many people follow Cian on Facebook alone. His fans literally sit waiting every week to see what ridiculous things come out of Emily's mouth before tagging their own boyfriends in the comments section and saying "OMG this is SO us!"

Cian exclusively chatted to Be about his ‘what the f*ck’ Internet fame and what his GF Emily is really like:

Takeus back to the beginning - what made you want to make your first ever ‘Emily’ video?
It literally just kind of happened, it started in 2013 when I was already doing similar videos to the ones you see today, only it was filmed with myself and my “mother.” I played both characters and argued back and forward with myself. They were pretty awful. After the mother “episodes” ended, the grandmother videos began. It was pretty much the same format as the mother videos only different and more suitable scenarios that a typical grandmother and grandson would have.

They kind of set me up for the Emily-style videos. When I met my now girlfriend, Emily, she suggested I do the videos like always, I just had to invent a character that was similar to her.

What was the reaction like from people of the Internet? (I feel like every girl I know has an Emily-streak - mine literally appears on the daily)
To be honest, it was the most mental two weeks of my life. The Facebook page had always had a little bit of interaction and engagement but as soon as I started posting Emily videos I recieved over a million followers in less than two weeks.

I remember the day after that, I went to Subway, had a nice little turkey sandwich and drank my bottle of Pepsi and in the time that I ate my sandwich I went up 12,000 followers. Of course because it happened so fast it wasn't really registering in my head. It still isn't.

Haveyoualways wanted to be a Comedian? Can we call you a comedian?
I don't even know what I am now, I mean I never actually wanted to be a comedian. With the Emily character I don't write jokes, of course I write scripts and they'd contain funny content but I'd never consider myself a comedian. I might have called myself a comedian once or twice but that's literally because I have no idea what it is that I do!

Was Emily always your GF?
Of course I've had previous girlfriends. You could call me rather unlucky in the relationship world but I met Emily in early 2015 and we're still together. We've both developed into mature adults since meeting. When we first met, all we used to do was go clubbing and eat pizza. It's now two years later and we're still eating pizza. No clubbing though, I think my time is up for sweaty dancing and free Jagerbombs. No thanks.

How did you and Emily get together?
Plain and simple, we met on Tinder. Big shoutout to Tinder. We matched, chatted for about a month and then we finally met up. We lived a bit away from each other so visits had to be planned. Luckily myself and Emily live together now in our own home. We spent a year in my mother's house but eventually decided to get our own place.

Is making videos your full-time job now?
Luckily it is. I spent three years with it being a fun little hobby but once I got myself an agent, he started performing magical things that I still don't understand. He got me to see really cool things and meet really cool people. Myself and Emily work together with the videos and content and Dave (my now manager) does all the boring things I'm yet to understand.

What do you do to relax?
To be honest I hate relaxing. The only reason I hate relaxing is because I do it too much. Only the other week I got an award for watching 10 hours of Netflix in one sitting. What is wrong with me?! I do what everyone else does. I eat, nap, watch Netflix for 10 hours, repeat. It's a never ending cycle of comfort and laziness.

We saw you publicly called out that d*ckhead who sent you vile messages and told his mum about it - how do you respond to haters/trolls/criticism?
I've been at this game for long enough to not be offended by anything. After time you just get over it. The only reason I responded to that lovely gentleman was because I saw an opportunity. I clicked on his page, saw his mother right there and gave her a cheeky message. I just wanted to imagine a woman seeing her 45-year-old son messaging a stranger online. Hopefully she slapped him with a spoon.

What’s next for Cian?
To be honest I dont know. I think online and social media is only just starting, In fact it's a threat to Movies/TV etc. So why leave? Saying that I still would love to get into acting. More serious acting. Dramatic and emotional types of shit.
