"I am beyond excited to share with you all that we have just received the news that Dad will be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame," 18-year-old Bindi wrote on Instagram alongside a gorgeous throwback pic of herself and her late father.

"Dad changed the world by reaching out to people through their television screens to bring them on the adventure of a lifetime. To have his name on a Hollywood Star means the world as we carry on his important work."

Meanwhile Robert, 13, shared a video of himself, Bindi and Terri finding out the news of Steve's star via a video.

The family, who are currently in the outback, were surrounded by emus and admitted they only had a small amount of wifi signal so they could watch the surprise news on the back of Steve's old ute.

"I am so excited that everything he loved and was passionate about will carry on."

Terri also shared her excitement on Twitter, posting the same video as Robert and writing, "Someone I love is a star..."
