Demi Lovato and Iggy Azalea both hit back at Halsey
If you’re going to throw major shade in the music industry, expect to be hit right back, especially if it’s directed towards music queens themselves Demi Lovato and Iggy Azalea.
Halsey seems to be on a shade rampage as she has hit out at both of the female singers in recent interviews.
Speaking to The Guardian, Halsey came out guns blazing saying she would never collaborate with Iggy.
“Iggy Azalea: absolutely not,” the singer said bluntly. “She had a complete disregard for black culture. F***ing moron. I watched her career dissolve and it fascinated me.” Major ouch!
However, the Aussie singer has hit right back in the best way possible claiming she doesn’t even know Halsey.
Iggy discussed the comments when she was on Nova FM’s Smallzy’s Surgery saying: “I don’t know her. I’ve never met her.” Burn!
The 27-year-old even offered Halsey some advice to learn to be “less judgemental when she’s kind of in the same shoes”. Well said, Iggy.
It doesn’t end there, though. Halsey has also slammed Demi Lovato, albeit in a slightly more discrete manner.
In another recent interview with Paper magazine, the 22-year-old opened up how she belives “bi-phobia” is very present in the music industry.
The interviewer said: “Generally the closest thing to queer representation you get in pop songs are sung by straight women. And they’re more about experimental hook-ups…”
Halsey agreed saying: “Bisexuality as a taboo.”
The singer then referenced some lyrics which she found to be problematic: “’Don’t tell your mom’ or ‘We shouldn’t do this’ or ‘This feels so wrong but it’s so right’.”
The “Don’t tell your mom” lyrics are clearly in reference to Demi’s hit song “Cool For The Summer”.
When the track was released in 2015 it raised questions from fans as if Demi was bisexual as the lyrics read: “Got my mind on your body/And your body on my mind/Got a taste for the cherry/I just need to take a bite/Don’t tell your mother.”
The 24-year-old threw shade right back Halsey with a sassy indirect tweet.
