Mariah to produce TV drama about her tough childhood
It looks Mariah Carey will grace us with her presence on television yet again for a new drama TV show based on her tough childhood.
The diva will team up alongside long-time friend Brett Ratner, who is one of Hollywood’s most successful filmmakers, to produce the drama series.
It’s reported that Ratner will also be the executive producer and the program will air on US network Starz.
The show will be set in 1986 and follow a bi-racial girl who wants to be a singer and moves to New York City to follow her dreams, according to news.com.au.
Screenwriter Nina Coleman is set to write the drama and serve as showrunner, with the infamous Stella Bulochnikov - Mimi’s manager/sidekick - acting as another executive producer.
Stella has previously worked on reality television programs including the flops Mariah’s World and Paris Hilton: My New BFF.
Deadline reveals the show will be a loose interpretation of Mimi’s ascent into stardom, with certain dramatic liberties taken.
It willl explore Mariah's tough upbringing, including her Irish-American mother being disowned after marrying a black man and her sister being diagnosed with HIV.
Stay tuned if you’re a Mimi fan!
