Caitlyn Jenner confronts Jimmy Kimmel about gender identity gags

When Caitlyn Jenner was rumoured to be going through her gender transition there was widespread speculation amongst the press, with many personalities making gags about it.

Jimmy Kimmel was one such comedian, and Caitlyn took the opportunity to confront him while she was on his talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday.

Opening up about her transition journey, the 67-year-old said: “I am not a spokesperson for the trans community. I’m only really a spokesperson for my journey and then take my platform, which I have, and see if I can make a difference in the world.”

She also discussed how once her an ex-wife Kris Jenner had gone their separate ways she was “back in Malibu all by myself” where she “slowly went through, told all my children, because it had been just hammered all over the media.”

And then that was when Caitlyn caught the host off-guard, confronting him about his own gags.

“In fact, guys like you making some jokes…” Caitlyn said.

Clearly taken aback, Jimmy did apologise, saying: “We didn’t know what was going on… Sorry about that, by the way.”

All in good fun, Caitlyn joked: “Oh, now he’s going to apologise!”

The former Olympian did accept the host’s apology adding that she had also called out Jimmy Fallon when she guested on The Tonight Show.

Much to Kimmel’s pleasure, Caitlyn admitted that he is her favourite out of the two Jimmys.

While Jimmy seemed to enjoy her company, many viewers of the clip of YouTube didn’t seem too happy that Cailtyn was a guest on the show with some bringing up the previous manslaughter charges she faced and others making transphobic comments about the star.

Either way, good on Caitlyn for letting bygones be bygones with the host!
