Home and Away's Jake Ryan wanted to play Brax

He's set to send pulses racing when he makes his Home and Away debut later this week.

But the show's new heartthrob, Jake Ryan has revealed this isn't the first time he's tried to join the Bay.

Speaking with Woman's Day, the 33-year-old admitted that he'd auditioned for the part of Darryl 'Brax' Braxton a few years ago.

The role eventually went to Stephen Peacocke who played the character on the show for five years.

Jake told the magazine that despite Brax's popularity he's hoping his character will make his own mark on the show.

"Both characters have been painted with the bad boy brush... but they're very different," he told the magazine.

Jake is set to play the love interest for Pia Miller's character, constable Katrina Chapman, with the pair already spotted filming some very raunchy scenes together.
