Ninja Warrior finale slammed by viewers

Fans of Ninja Warrior have expressed their outrage at the show's finale after footage of Johann Ofner, who died earlier this year, was seen throughout the episode.

While Channel Nine confirmed footage of the 28-year-old stuntman, who died in January this year while on the set of a Bliss n Eso video, would not be used in the finale, he was featured on the leaderboard and in the line-up on the contestants.

Johann's run on the course was not shown, and it is unclear on whether his inclusion on the leaderboard was an editing mistake or left in as a tribute.

Fans were quick to notice, taking to social media to question the editing process.

"Strange that #NinjaWarriorAU still had Johann Ofner on the scoreboard (and) in the wrap but didn't acknowledge him," one viewer tweeted, while others offered their own tributes tweeting, "Johann Ofner, what a champion. Rest in peace" and "Wow Johann made it all the way. Top 5 even. Wish they had shown his run throughout the stages."

Meanwhile viewers also took to social media to slam the over-hyped epsiode that produced not even one winner, with fans fuming the course was "impossible" and blamed the 65 second time limit on stage two.

Despite 21 contestants taking to the course, no one was able to complete all the stages, with only eight making it past stage two.

Former NinjaWarrior UK contestant Fred Dorrington was the closest viewers saw to a winner, being awarded "performance of the night" after going the furthest in stage two and topping the leader board.
