Matty J addresses lack of diversity on The Bachelor
Social media has been sent into a frenzy in the past week, with many fans pointing out that The Bachelor's cast does not reflect a multicultural Australia.
Now the man himself, Matty J, has addressed the issue of diversity, and says he had nothing to do with the casting of the Channel Ten reality show.
"I don’t have any preference when it comes to race or colour or anything,' the 31-year-old has told news.com.au.
"Does it need to be more diverse? I think that’s a question for Channel Ten moreso than myself, I can’t really comment on that," he added.
Earlier this week fans took to Twitter, outraged that after drawing the same headlines year in and year out, the majority of women in this season’s line up are tall, slim and white.
Here are some of the most poignant reactions:
in the words of @chrissyteigen how will he choose from such a diverse bunch!

Such diversity. There are blondes, brunettes...errr and different dress colours too.
I hope the #Bachelor is a short Asian guy https://t.co/ucT7bcb6oP— Stewart Marshall (@Properliberal) July 23, 2017
Doesn’t matter whether you’re pretty or beautiful, stunning or just incredibly attractive, you can be on The Bachelor #diversity
