They were Hollywood’s power couple of the 90s but Nicole Kidman’s marriage to Tom Cruise didn’t last and that apparently may have been the best move for her career.
Nic and Tom were married for 11 years, tying the knot in 1990 but eventually divorced in 2001.
Now, the 50-year-old has reportedly revealed to OK! magazine that it was after their split when her career really took off.
“I was out of [the marriage] and suddenly the energy shifted in my ability to go anywhere,” she told the publication.
It apparently helped because she “didn’t have to be answering to a relationship” after the couple divorced.
What she’s saying may have some truth as just after their divorce was finalised in August of 2001, Nicole went on to bag an Academy Award for Best Actress in hit film The Hours.
Nic went on to marry country singer in Keith Urban in 2006 and the star gushed about him to the mag saying they have a “really good, strong marriage”.
The couple have two children together Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. Nicole also adopted two children while married to Tom, Connor and Isabella.
