Matt Okine talks getting naked in The Other Guy

Matt Okine is set to reveal a lot of himself in his new show The Other Guy, and that includes his bare body!

"I thought it’d be the most boring part of it to be honest," the 32-year-old comedian tells Be about his naked scenes in the Stan production. Boring? We don't think so Matty!

Inspired by his real-life experiences, The Other Guy sees Matt play a thirty-something radio presenter AJ, and as he navigates his way through the dating scene, a few risque sequences pop up for your viewing pleasure.

"I just didn't think about it," he says about getting his gear off for the cameras, but admits "it was a little strange".

"To be honest the very first scene that we shot was the very first scene in episode four where my character goes to the doctors because he’s concerned about something going on down there," he reveals.

"So the very, very first scene that we shot, I had my bits in a little pouch and it’s a thin pouch, there’s veins and stuff!"

"It’s not racially correct, the colour of the pouch," his co-host Harriet Dyer adds. "They don’t have brown pouches, I mean, get on it!"

You tell them sister!

Matt continues: "It’s a little bit strange, and this actress playing a doctor is on her knees, really close to it and something happens in the scene where we end up falling on top of each other.

"To launch straight into that, was like I realised there and then like 'Oh god, what have I written?' Like there’s things I’m going to have to do!"

"I thought OK in season two we’re doing thing a little bit differently," he laughs.

The Other Guy is no doubt a project very close to Matt's heart, as it's based on his own experience of being cheated on by a long-term girlfriend, with his best friend.

And while some may perceive the show could be "some shocking expose", the former Triple J breakfast host insists, "it’s just not like that".

"It’s not like a Matt Okine documentary or anything like that. There are elements in this that run parallel to events that happened in my life," he tells Be.

"I think it’s a universal story. I think it’s something either people are terrified of having or it’s like something like this has happened to them. I just wanted to tell an honest story."

Also starring the likes of Valene Kane, Christiaan Van Vuuren and Michael Hing, The Other Guy premieres on Stan on Thursday August 17.
