Brange's new court battle

It was once their happy home away from home, but Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have lost a court battle over their french love nest Chateau Miraval.

A court has ruled in favour of french lighting designer Odile Soudant, awarding her AU$756,000 in a dispute with the 53-year-old actor over Brange's chateau in Provence over a redesign.

Oldile told a court her business "went under" and her career was "irreparably damaged" because of Brad's "refusal" to cough up the dollar when it came to expensive architectural reveries, and despite her hefty payout, AP reports she's now challenging the former couple for the intellectual property rights to the chateau's lighting design.

Brad's lawyers weren't backing down without a fight, with his team arguing the extensive project was late and over-budget, adding that it was the War Machine actor's orginal design idea, not Oldile's.

Hollywood's former golden couple are continuing to hash out their divorce settlement, after Ange ended their 12 year union last September.

However Chateau Miraval was once a special love nest for Brad and Ange and held special memories, with the couple staying in the 17th century estate after the 42-year-old actress gave birth to the couple's twins in 2008, establishing a successful winery from the estate's vineyards and also marrying there, surrounded by their six children, in 2014.

Odile's company Lumieres Studio was hired to update the chateau's lighting during renovations shortly after the couple first bought the property, with the designer telling AP that Brad had an "obsession" with natural light.

"I had unlimited time and unlimited budget. They said, ‘If you ask for more, we’ll give you more,'" she told the outlet, adding that she wasn't supplied or given a contract.

She added that the project had "delirious demands" from Brad and at one point had 17 employees working on the lighting redesign.

After spending three years working on the renovation project, Odile added she stopped receiving payments from the star, despite her staff continuing to work on the project.

"One day he wakes up and decides he has paid too much... they sank my business," she added.
