Bonnie Tyler’s song “Total Eclipse of the Heart” was a smash hit back in the 1980s.
Now the song has gone viral again, jumping to number one in the iTunes charts due to the solar eclipse across North America.
Even better, the legendary singer performed the track during the actual eclipse. Watch in the clip above.
The 66-year-old performed the hit with DNCE fronted by Joe Jonas, on board a Royal Caribbean ship for their Total Eclipse Cruise which set sail from Florida to the Caribbean.
The song was also cut down to the exact length of this year’s solar eclipse.
“The eclipse of the sun lasts two minutes and 40 seconds, I’m told,” the singer told Time. “Unlike my song. It had to be chopped about, because it was so long.”
It was the first time a solar eclipse had crossed the entire USA since 1918, so it won’t be comin’ round again anytime soon.
So, for those that witnessed it, it really would have been a total eclipse of the heart.
