GoT fans notice big clue on Jon Snow's sword

SPOLIER ALERT: If you have not seen the most recent episode of Game of Thrones season seven then do not read any further... Unless you want to know what happens. In that case, go ahead!

As we get to the pointy end of the season, fans have gone wild over teeny-tiny detail in the latest episode of Game of Thrones.

While it looked like Jon Snow was a goner for the second time after being taken down into a icy pool, viewers all breathed a sigh of relief when the King of the North popped up gasping for air and clutching onto his sword to help himself up.

But it was that moment where eagle-eyed viewers caught a glimpse of the dire wolf handle, taking to social media to ask whether or not others had seen the sword "blink". Watch the video above and see for yourself!

"Hang on, did Jon Snow’s sword come to life on GoT?" One fan tweeted, while another added: "Is it just me or did Jon Snow’s sword just blink? #WhatTheF***! #GoTS7."

Yes, that's right, many seem to think that as Jon clutched onto the sword to pull himself up out of the water, the eye on the dire wolf opens up and it all points to a conversation earlier in the episode.

As they travelled further north beyond the wall, Jon tried to give the sword back to Ser Jorah Mormont, as it originally belonged to Jorah's father, Jeor Mormont before his death.

"Really, I’m already wanting to restart it cause I need to understand the conversation between Jon Snow and Jorah Mormont about the sword lol," a fan tweeted, revealing that the scene held greater significance than first thought.

However Alan Taylor, who directed the Beyond the Wall episode, has dismissed the fan theories.

"I haven’t got a clue what they’re talking about," he told Business Insider.

"Either this sword is magic and it’s doing stuff on its own, or something happened. I’m going to have to go back and watch that moment close up and in slow motion to see what’s going on there. I can say that there was no intention for that to be the case."
