Katy's cringe-worthy VMAs performance
Some people shouldn't host award shows and as it turns out Katy Perry is such an artist who shouldn't give up her day job just yet.
As harsh as that may sound, Katy's VMAs hosting performance is all the proof we need that perhaps she should have just given a shady performance of her Taylor Swift diss track Swish Swish instead of subjecting the audience - and us - to all her cringe-worthy jokes and gags.
After arriving on stage in a spacesuit, Katy decided use her opening monologue to make all sorts of awkward jokes, and try to show everyone that she's not a regular singer, she's a cool singer.
Wanting to swap her space suit for something more on trend, Katy was presented with a rack of clothing on stage, even managing to take a dig at arch-rival Taylor Swift by referencing her arch-rival Kanye West and his clothing line Yeezy, but it wasn't long before she settled on "very retro-pilgrim" and picking up a costume from The Handmaid's Tale.
"This one is so beautiful, what is it? Is this Balenciaga for 2017? Very retro pilgrim; it’s super cool. 2016 was terrible but it feels like things are getting better, especially in fashion, right?" Katy said holding up the dress.
Unfortunately the joke fell flat. Watch the awkward moment below.
And the awkward gags did not stop there. Next up was Katy's attempt to show the audience she could "boost her socials" with a baby. Yes, that's right, a baby.
Appearing on stage with a baby doll strapped to her, the Roar singer introduced her "social media baby" to the crowd, saying she was "sponsored by Fit Tea" and is already a big "influencer".
There was one person who wasn't impressed with the gag - and wasn't afraid to show it - Ellen DeGeneres, with the comedian looking far from impressed when the camera zoomed in on her in the audience. Watch new "mum" Katy and her fake baby below.
Katy even found a way to make reference to the persistant conspiracy theorists claims that she's the late child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey. See the clip below.
In an opening skit, Katy was asked "blink twice" if she's JonBenet. Despite her denials the "reporter" in the clip persisted, saying they would take the scoop to TMZ.
In what could have been the most awkward moment of the night, Katy even lost her wig after Pink was given MTV's Video Vanguard Award.

"I have absolutely no words about Pink's performance except for these. I am shookth. I am dead. I am living. I'm crying. She's iconic. Wig snatched," she said, pulling off the long blonde wig. See the hair-losing moment below.
Of course the audience weren't the only ones who weren't impressed with Katy, with Twitter one fire with hot takes about her hosting duties.
Poor Katy, better luck next time!

Katy Perry is like what you all THOUGHT Anne Hathaway was, but for real.
