This is what Beyonce's twins' names mean

It's been just over two months since Beyonce gave birth to twins Rumi and Sir, and now husband Jay Z has revealed why the bubs have those particular names.

Appearing on the Rap Radar podcast on Tidal on Friday, the 47-year-old said: "Rumi is our favorite poet, so that was for our daughter".

Then referring to his little boy, the musician continued: "And Sir was just like... man, come out the gate and he just carries himself like that. Just came out like 'Sir'". Cute!

Back in July Beyonce's mother, Tina Knowles, shared a poem by Rumi, which all totally makes sense now.

The internet went into meltdown earlier this month after Bey posted the first picture of the twins on Instagram - making it the most liked snap on the social media site.

The image was a reminder of the 35-year-old's pregnancy announcement which came in the shape of another floral-inspired Instagram picture - in which she was once again wearing a veil.

She captured the image: "We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over.

"We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. The Carters (sic)."
