The real reason Ivanka Trump starred in 'Gossip Girl'

She might come from one of the wealthiest families in the world… but Ivanka Trump is apparently a little strapped for cash.

Gossip Girl fans will no doubt remember that Ivanka and husband Jared Kushner cameo in an episode of the hit show way back in 2010.

But it wasn’t because they wanted to rub shoulders with Serena or Blair or even Chuck.

“They did it for the money,” the series co-creator Josh Schwartz told Vanity Fair.

Funny thing is, at the time that’s not what the couple said prompted them to appear on the show.

In an interview with InStyle at the time, Ivanka said she “never missed an episode of Gossip Girl” adding that she viewed herself as a “cross between Blair Waldrof and Lily van der Woodsen when it comes to style”.

Their cameo came before her dad Donald Trump announced he would be running for President.
