Unfortunately due to some major online backlash, the Orange Is The New Black actress has been forced to defend her donation and clarify things.

Hurricane Harvey has left thousands of Houston residents without homes because of flooding and resulted in 27 confirmed deaths.

The star took to Twitter to explain her generosity in a lengthy post.

“I don’t agree with the wording and personal attacks but I do understand those unaware of what an LGBT center (sic) represents and how it works,” she wrote.

“The LGBT center (sic) does not just help LGBT members in a crisis like this, it does not discriminate people in need based on gender, sexuality, race or religion. It is one of the most inclusive organizations I can think of. It is not as though they check how gay you are on entry,” the 31-year-old said.

She went on to say how she had previously donated to an animal shelter in Houston just days before but just didn’t post about it “as it’s not really about that”.

Ruby Rose went on to clarify her reasoning for posting about donating to the LGBT centre as it “was a unique situation as the benefit is creating awareness to the center (sic) out weighed the usual criticism of ‘Is that why you donated’ or ‘why gay people’ or ‘attention seeker’ etc… it’s far more rewarding to donate anonymously by a long mile.”

You tell them, girl!
