Hughesy’s holiday 'hit and run'

The Australian public knows Dave “Hughesy” Hughes as one half of the radio duo Hughesy and Kate, a comedian and as the host of Australia’s Got Talent.

But first and foremost he is a father and husband to his wife Holly and their three children Rafferty, 8, Sadie, 6, and four-year-old Tess.

Being the doting dad he is, the comedian loves to spend quality time with his family, and that often involves taking trips here, there and everywhere but that doesn’t come without its challenges.

The 46-year-old exclusively tells Be he was actually involved in a hit and run while on a trip in Los Angeles!

Don’t worry though – it was only minor.

“I hadn’t slept for the three days and I’m trying to navigate the car on the wrong side of the road and the kids are going nuts in the back,” the comedian tells Be.

His wife Holly was “flinching every two seconds” because she was afraid he was going to hit a parked car on the side of the road with the “ocean-liner” he was driving.

After she drifted off, what Holly thought would happen actually happened – Hughesy side swiped a parked car!

“She wanted us to go back to this LA street and leave a note for this car whose side mirror I’d knocked off… I said I’m not going back that could be a gang member’s car!” Hughesy said.

Moral of the story from the radio personality: don’t hire a car at the airport straight after a long haul flight with three kids.

Looks like he won’t be taking any long haul flights any time soon as it seems Hughesy has turned into Cruisey Hughesy.

The comedian is now involved with P&O Cruises’ Pacific Explorer “Something for Everyone” campaign.
