Jamie reaches out to Tom about Katie romance

Having now gone public with his romance with Katie Holmes, Jamie Foxx has apparently reached out to his girlfriend's famous ex Tom Cruise to clear the air.

According to Radar Online, Jamie and Tom had been close friends before he began dating Katie, and 49-year-old Jamie doesn't want any bad blood going forward.

"Jamie wants Tom’s forgiveness, whatever the future holds for him and Katie," a source tells the publication.

Katie is also supportive of Jamie taking the first step to communicate with her ex, whom she split with in 2012 after six years of marriage.

“Katie doesn’t think that Jamie has anything to feel bad about, but she knows it would mean a lot to him to clear the air with Tom," the source adds.

Apparently Jamie also has Katie and Tom's 11-year-old daughter Suri in mind, with the insider also revealing: "More than anything, he wants to reassure Tom he’s never trash-talked him as a friend and urge him to spend more time with Suri".

Rumours had been swirling that Katie and Jamie Foxx been an item since 2013 and earlier this week the pair seemed to confirm their romance, when photos emerged of them holding hands in public as they strolled along a beach.

The images, which surfaced online, showed the pair out for a beach day outing in their home state of California.

Back in May there was speculation that Katie and Jamie were close to going public with their romance.

"They're going to go out to dinner more often and plan to start going public," a source told Woman's Day magazine at the time.

The magazine also reported that Katie had kept quiet about the relationship because of a contract between her and ex Tom Cruise.

Apparently this contract was signed by the star following her split from Tom in 2012, which "stated that the actress would not publicly step out with another man for five years, in exchange for full custody of the couple's now 11-year-old daughter, Suri".

The pair tied the knot in 2006 but eventually divorced in 2012 and have a child together, Suri.
