The shock Emmys guest no-one was expecting
As predicted, Donald Trump has played a major role in today’s Emmy Awards… even though he didn’t event attend.
Presenter Stephen Colbert decided to screen a throwback video of Trump during one of the Presidential debate’s in which Hillary Clinton took aim at The Don for complaining that his show The Apprentice didn’t score an Emmy nomination.
In the video Trump can be seen giving a smug smile before saying, “Shoulda got it”. The camera then cut back to Colbert who told the audience “that actually happened”.
He continued: “But unlike the Presidency, the Emmys go to the winner of the popular vote.”
“Of course, what really matters to Donald Trump are the numbers; the big ratings. Of course, at this point we have no way of knowing how big our audience actually is,” he said.
Cue Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer also made a surprise appearance. “This will be the largest audience to witness an Emmys, period,” he said.
Spicer had been the butt of many late night jokes due to his bolshy press conferences, and ended being immortalised by Melissa McCarthy on SNL in a performance, which earned her an Emmy Award.
