Taylor Swift sued over Shake It Off lyrics

It's arguably one of her most successful songs EVER.

But two songwriters are claiming Taylor Swift stole lyrics from their song Playas Gon' Play and used them in her hit single, Shake It Off.

According to a report on TMZ, Sean Hall and Nathan Butler who wrote their song back in 2001 for band 3LW, have slapped the superstar with a lawsuit over the alleged theft.

The lyrics to their song include: “Playas, they gonna play and haters, they gonna hate.”

Tay Tay's Shake It Off, which was a jointly written track by Swift and songwriters Max Martin and Shellback, includes the lyrics: “Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play, the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.”

In the lawsuit, Sean Hall and Nathan Butler have said that 20% of Shake it Off is their work.

The pair have worked with some huge artists in the past, including Justin Bieber, Lionel Richie, Backstreet Boys, Pink and Maroon 5.

Taylor has already come forward with a statement denying the claims.

"This is a ridiculous claim and nothing more than a money grab," her spokesperson told the publication. "The law is simple and clear. They do not have a case."

The Look What You Made Me Do singer was sued over these same lyrics back in 2015 by R&B singer Jesse Graham.

A judge in California dismissed the copyright case.
