Matty J ‘wasted everyone’s time’ on The Bachelor

It came as no shock when Matty J chose jewellery designer Laura Byrne over Elise Stacy on The Bachelor finale last week.

Matty himself has now come forward saying his series of The Bachelor was “wasted” on him and wishes he would’ve just asked Laura out when they crossed paths briefly before the show.

Speaking to OK! the marketing manager admitted: “I wasted everyone’s time.”

Matty regrets not having the “courage to say ‘Hi’” to Laura when they brushed shoulders at the Bondi Icebergs before filming for the season began.

He told the publication that it “could’ve saved another series of The Bachelor”.

Following the finale Matty confirmed on The Project he and Laura "clocked each other" while they were in a sauna together at Bondi Icebergs and had a few mutual friends in common.

One girl who definitely wouldn’t have liked to hear that she had her time "wasted" would be runner-up Elise.

The marketing executive told Be last week she didn’t like hearing Matty’s comments toThe Daily Telegraph about wishing he could’ve told Laura straight away that she was “The One”.

“That hurts because he did ask me to be open and I was actually very sceptical of that fact. I asked him on our first date, ‘I’m fearful your heart is already taken.’ And he said, ‘No I give every opportunity to every girl,’” she told Be.

Despite having now moved on from Matty, Elise has no plans to follow in his footsteps by signing up for The Bachelorette.

“Right now I can’t fathom doing that,” she admitted to Be. “I don’t think I’m the kind of person – knowing what I went through – take someone else through that.”
