Ariel Winter slammed by estranged mum

It is no secret that Ariel Winter has an extremely turbulent relationship with her mother over the years and eventually became officially emancipated at the age of 17.

The Modern Family star’s estranged mother Crystal Workman has now spoken out saying she wants her daughter to “have respect for herself” commenting on the 19-year-old’s fashion choices.

Speaking with Inside Edition, Crystal slammed her daughter’s revealing sense of style saying: “I just want to see her have respect for herself and have some class.”

There is one specific photo of Ariel in a bikini posted back in April 2016 that seemed to bother Crystal.

“That one in particular where her leg is raised and she is holding a martini glass, all I could do was cry and feel sorry for her,” she told the outlet.

Crystal revealed she feels like her daughter is “starving for attention” and that her dress sense “is a cry for help”.

However, Ariel hit back at critics of her dress sense on Instagram on Tuesday.

“Screw always having to look appropriate and fashionable,” she wrote in a lengthy post.

“I wear what I like and no one should fault me for that,” Ariel added.

“And just because I decide to show my body occasionally doesn’t mean I’m unintelligent or that I’m talentless or that I have no self respect. I have extreme respect for myself, I have talent and I am intelligent,” the actress also wrote.

“We need to move on from this stigma that women who are comfortable with their bodies and their sexuality are just ‘dumb s**ts,’” she said.
