Margot Robbie feared she wasn't 'hottest blonde'

She had every man lusting over her in her breakout Hollywood role but Margot Robbie feared she wasn't the "hottest blonde" for the job.

Speaking to Wonderland magazine, the 27-year-old Aussie actress said she worried she would leave people disappointed in her "high-tempo sexy" Wolf of Wall Street role opposite Leonardo DiCaprio.

"When I was playing Naomi in The Wolf of Wall Street it was so high-tempo sexy. I was acutely aware that the line in the screenplay was 'the hottest blonde ever'. I’m clearly not the hottest blonde ever," she told the publication.

"I was just terrified that people would see the movie and think 'eugh! She’s not that great.'"

Comparing the 2013 role to her latest film, I, Tonya, where Margot underwent an amazing transformation to play US competitive ice skater Tonya Harding, the star added: "The worse I looked the happier people were."

"Ironically Tonya wasn’t unattractive, she’s just been marred with that story. Like Daphne, Tonya, right or wrong, is human," Margot said of the film which recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Margot added it was "frustrating" that so much focus is put on her looks when it comes to some of her biggest roles.

"All the reading, all the acting coaching, and then someone reviews the movie or interviews you and all they do is focus on the aesthetics. You think, 'f*** you. You’ve totally discredited the work I did and it’s not fair!'"
