Comedian Dave 'Hughes' Hughes has shown his support for marriage equality with a post on his Instagram account ahead of the AFL grand final.

The 46-year-old radio star posted a photo of the Melbourne Cricket ground with a rainbow seen in the sky, along with the caption: "This morning the MCG votes Yes. #aflgf".

Supportive fans chimed in with encouragement, with one writing: "When a picture says a thousand words #inyourface #equalrights #australiasaysyes #itsasign #godhasaplan #loveisintheair #voteyes".

The AFL recently showed its support for marriage equality with a "YES" logo placed at the front of its headquarters in Melbourne. It was however taken down less than 24 hours later.
