Mariah Carey announces Australian tour

It's time to dust off the sequins: Mariah Carey is brining her #1s tour Down Under next Year.

The last time Jame Packer's ex toured Australia was back in 2014 when she released her last studio album Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse.

The singer took to Twitter to announce the tour with a tweet offering hard-core fans the opportunity to sign up for presale access.

During Mariah's last tour media outlets reported the singer was struggling to shift tickets, with The Daily Telegraph claiming she'd slashed prices from $350 to $99.90 in a flash sale.

Reviews at the time also panned the concert, with one Fairfax reviewer claiming the singer peppered her show with a series of lengthy breaks.

Although not part of a tour, Mariah did jet into Australia for a brief sojourn in 2015 to perform at then-boyfriend James Packer's Crown Casino New Year's Eve Party.

The tour news comes off the bat of a bizarre interview the pop diva conducted with UK journalist Piers Morgan, in which she was questioned about the recent Las Vegas shooting.

The mother-of-two was there to chat about her Christmas tour however while the interview was in full swing news broke of the shootings in Nevada.

Mariah was seen in her home in Beverly Hills sprawled on her chaise lounge in a burgundy gown with a Christmas tree behind her.

Piers asked the singer what she thought about the shootings that have just taken place.

"I pray for the victims and hope all these can stop as soon as possible," she said, visibly stunned.

"You know, I have spent a lot of time in Vegas and this type of thing anywhere happening anywhere is a huge tragedy."

She continued, "It’s terrible because people just going out to listen to music, really they’re out for the night and something like this happens, it’s shocking".

She's set to hit Aussie shores in February.
