Roxy Jacenko talks going into 'early menopause'

Roxy Jacenko has revealed her cancer treatment can "push" her into early menopause after she found a second lump in her breast three weeks ago.

Speaking to KIIS FM's Kyle and Jackie O Show, the 37-year-old spoke about her treatment plan and the medication she will be on for next decade after she was first diagnosed with breast cancer last July.

"I had a partial removal in Melbourne because a Sydney doctor said I should have a mastectomy and I didn't want to do that at that time because I was all over the place, I needed to be able to pick Hunter up and put him into bed and I couldn't if I had that because it is a major operation," the PR maven told the radio duo about her first round of treatment.

"I had radiation for six weeks every day after that then started taking this thing Tamoxifen and I'm glad it's 16 degrees in here because I like I'm 70 degrees at all times from this [medication]... I'm hot every day," Roxy jokingly added before explaining what the medication does.

"I have to have it for 10 years, it's at tablet. It's a cancer blocker. I was very young to get cancer, Tamoxifen is something that pushes you into early menopause... so you can imagine, you've heard of the mothers who have the 'hot sweats'? Roxy has the 'hot sweats'".

When asked by Jackie O whether or not she's being "pushed" into early menopause the mother-of-two confirmed "it hasn't, but it can" before adding she won't be "having anymore children anytime soon".

Roxy also revealed that she had been a bit "lax" when it came to getting check-ups admitting she would have "never found" the second most recent lump, before sharing an important message to listeners.

"You have to remember I found the first one by chance because I was rigorously scrubbing my spray tan, preparing my skin for another spray tan. This time I wouldn't have had even noticed it. It was just in the section near the bone in the middle. I just didn't feel it and an ultrasound picked it up," she said.

"I had been a bit lax, I didn't have the mammogram or the ultrasound or the MRI. I think that's the biggest message here, if you don't make time for yourself it can all end tomorrow.

"And you would think if you had cancer you would bother to check, I left it a bit longer than I should have, I won't be doing that again so I had that awful wait. I had it biopsied... they put a needle it in to pull out some of the lump so they can test it, anyway it was non-cancerous, they think it was the trauma of having the partial removal, but I think the biggest message is be vigilant and don't be lazy."
