Sacked Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein begged for his job

The storm surrounding sacked Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has taken another twist.

Latest reports surrounding the movie mogul - who has been accused of a string of sex offences against numerous women - didn't take the news of his departure very well.

In fact, it appears the co-owner of production studio The Weinstein Films begged for his job before being formally fired.

Janice Min, a former top editor at The Hollywood Reporter, shared a private email the accused is rumoured to have sent to 'Hollywood power players' asking for support.

In a seperate tweet, Janice identified the the Hollywood big cats as one-time Disney boss and Dreamworks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg, and NBCUniversal Vice Chairman Ron Meyer, who both said to have refused to help.

The sordid scandal surrounding Harvey Weinstein started last Friday when the The New York Times published a series of sexual harassment claims against him that span over a series of 30 years.

Since their report, that claimed the one time Oscar winning producer paid out in at least eight settlements to keep up his behaviour, numerous women have come forward to say he acted inappropriately towards them too.

The company he co-founded with his brother then sacked Harvey, stating they made the decision after 'new information' about his 'misconduct' came to light.

Despite initially issuing a statement that accepted his behaviour had 'caused a lot of pain', Harvey Weinstein indicates in the uncovered email that he wanted to fight for his position.

"We believe that what the board is trying to do is not only wrong but might be illegal and would destroy the company," it reads. "If you could write this letter backing me, getting me help and time away I need, and also stating your opposition to the board firing me, it would help me a lot. I am desperate for your help."
