Emma Thompson reveals Hollywood's rife with predators

Actress Emma Thompson has called film producer Harvey Weinstein a "predator" after a string of sexual harassment allegations have emerged against the 65-year-old.

Speaking to the BBC , the 58-year-old actress says she's not surprised by the disgraceful behaviour taking place in Hollywood, especially at the hands of someone with so much industry power.

"What I find sort of extraordinary is that this man is at the top of a very particular iceberg, you know he’s — I don’t think you can describe him as a ‘sex addict,’ he’s a predator," she says.

"But what he’s, as it were, at the top of the ladder of is a system of harassment, and belittling, and bullying, and interference, and what my mother would have referred to in the old days as ‘pestering'," she continued.

Explaining that it is this "crisis in masculinity" that needs to be talked about, Emma says there are definitely other men in the entertainment industry who've done similar things to Weinstein "though maybe not to that degree".

"Do they have to all be as bad as him to make it count?" she asked. "Does it only count if you really have done it to loads and loads and loads of woman? Or does it count if you do it to one woman once? I think the latter."

Since movie mogul Weinstein was accused of being a sexual predator in a sensational exposé last week, more and more women have been coming forward with stories of their own.

This includes high-profile actresses such as Angelina Jolie , Gwyneth Paltrow and Heather Graham.

The New York Post recently reported that Weinstein called Hayley Atwell a “fat pig” on the set of film Brideshead Revisited.

However, it seems Academy Award-winning actress Emma subtly called out the producer back in March during an interview on Scandinavian chat show Skavlan.

“There was a wonderful actress I was working with on something called Brideshead Revisted,” she said. “The producers said to her: ‘Will you lose some weight?’”

“She was absolutely exquisite,” the actress continued. “I said to them: ‘If you speak to her about this again, on any level, I will leave this picture. You are never to do that.’”

It very well seems she was calling out Weinstein as a source recently told The New York Post: “Emma called out Harvey for being a misogynist and a bully and really gave him a hard time".
