Game of Thrones star apologises for disgusting 'rape' comment

Actor Jason Momoa has issued an apology after footage resurfaced showing the Game of Thrones discussing how much he loved being on the show because he got to “rape beautiful women”.

"I made a truly tasteless comment," he wrote on his Instagram account.

"It is unacceptable and I sincerely apologize with a heavy heart for the words I said."

Earlier this week the clip of him making the comment was shared on Twitter, just as part of the ongoing sexual misconduct revelations surrounding producer Harvey Weinstein continued emerging.

Twitter user @peeanofreek shared the clip of Jason sitting with his fellow Game of Thrones cast mates on an open-mic panel.

“As far as fantasy goes I love it – there are so many things you can do like rip someone’s tongue out of their throat and rape beautiful women,” Jason said when asked what he liked about the fantasy-themed show.

His fellow cast mates, including Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke, appeared visibly embarrassed after the stars comment, with many putting their hands to the face and shaking their heads.

However, not one cast member pulled the actor up on his comments either during the panel or after it.

The resurgence of the clip comes at a rather inconvenient time for Jason – he’s starring in DC’s big-budget flick Justice League in the role of Aquaman.

Jason is currently married to actress Lisa Bonet, with whom he has two children: a son and a daughter.

But he’s not the only actor whose past sins have been dragged back into the spotlight in the wake of Harvey’s scandal.

Thanks to Twitter, a decade-old clip of Ben Affleck grabbing an MTV presenter breast was reshared prompting the actor to “apologise” for his behaviour.
