Lisa Wilkinson’s best moments on Today

She recently celebrated a decade on Today but in a shock statement last night Lisa Wilkinson announced she was leaving Channel Nine for rival network Channel 10 for a role on The Project.

We take a look back at some of the host’s best moments during her 10 years on the popular breakfast show.

The 'hooker' confusion, 2008

After weatherman Steve Jacobs mentioned exclusive NZ accommodation "Huka Lodge", Lisa piped up to announce she'd stayed there once and it was "beautiful". Cue a very, very bad case of the giggles.

Lisa talks turkey, 2008

A simple conversation with Richard Reid about Christmas lunch turned into an innuendo-laden snortfest as Lisa tried to discuss the best way to keep the roast turkey nice and juicy.

The morning after the Logie Awards, 2009

We all enjoy a night of partying from time-to-time and end up at work slightly hungover but the majority of us don’t have to appear on live TV the next day.

Lisa and co-host Karl Stefanovic graced our screens the morning after the Logie Awards in 2009.

“It’s basically not long after the night before,” Lisa said. “It was a great night.”

Karl confessed neither of them had been to bed after a night of heavy partying and the 43-year-old later admitted he had been “really drunk” during the segment.

The curling, 2010

When Lisa and Karl set up the Nintendo Wii to test out some Winter Olympics sports, their attempt at curling quickly went very, very risqué.

"Is this footage going to come back to haunt us, or what?" Lisa joked.

"It is already haunting us," Karl replied.

The "you’ve got a big one" interview, 2011

Clearly even the most experienced of interviewers can have a minor slip-of-the-tongue and Lisa is no different.

In an interview discussing planes, interviewee Michael said how “excited” he was to be on Today.

“It is and you’ve got a big one too,” Lisa told him.

Realising her interesting choice of words, she clarified she meant the plane sniggering with a hint of laughter.

The host managed to keep it together until the end of the segment when Karl called her out, saying, “You were right, Lisa. It was a big one.”

The pair both burst into hysterics.

Getting a mammogram live on air, 2013

In a courageous move, just a day after US presenter Amy Robach discovered she had breast cancer during a mammogram live on air, Lisa was due to do the same.

However, she never revealed her results live on air and later told A Current Affair host Tracy Grimshaw the reason why.

“I hadn’t actually thought what happens if there is a problem with the mammogram,” she said.

The host was pulled aside by a nurse and was told there was a “problem” with her mammogram and that they needed to take a few more images.

Luckily, the tests came back negative and the scan had picked up a few cysts which sometimes “show up as an irregularity in a mammogram”.

The "pussy bow" incident, 2016

Despite always putting her professional foot forward first, the 57-year-old definitely showed off the cheeky side of her personality on occasion.

One of the most memorable moments being when Karl was seen fiddling with a big bow on her white shirt, which prompted Lisa’s very mischievous side to come out.

“My pussy bow goes all the way to the floor… How long have we been together? Nine years. You’re allowed to touch the pussy bow,” she told Karl, prompting him to erupt into a fit of laughter.

Celebrating 10 years on Today, 2017

Only last month, Lisa celebrated her 10-year anniversary on Today and co-host Karl gave a moving thanks to his colleague.

“The ups and downs, the overs and outs, you have been a constant source of friendship and of love and on a day like today, all I can do is salute you and thank you for being part of my life,” he told Lisa.

The host was also joined by her family on the show as well as many of her colleagues.

Good luck in your next chapter, Lisa.
