Did Lisa hint she was heading to The Project weeks ago?

On Monday night Lisa Wilkinson announced she was leaving Today after 10 years behind the desk for a role at Channel 10's The Project.

But did the veteran journalist hint this changeover weeks ago?

The 57-year-old made an appearance on The Project last month and gave a hint she may be leaving the comfy confines of Channel Nine.

"We are having network wars right now! I've gone for Channel 10!," the journalist joked.

The comment came after The Project host Peter Helliar brought up what she thought about the $4.56 million defamation settlement Bauer Media was ordered to pay Rebel Wilson in September.

And when he questioned if she's asked what Karl thinks about it she confessed she is yet to discuss the topic.

"You haven't spoken to him - tension on the Today set?" Waleed Aly said.

“No no, that’s only because he’s hosting A Current Affair tonight,” she joked.

But the joke's on us as the reporter revealed on Monday night she's moving to rival television network Channel Ten to join popular evening program The Project.

The mother-of-three took to her Twitter to share the news.

“I have some news, I’m sad to say that today was my last day on the Today show,” she wrote.
