GoT's Lena Headey shares tearful Harvey Weinstein encounter

Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey has shared details of an encounter with disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein that left her feeling 'powerless'.

The mum-of-two shared a lengthy post to Twitter where she accused the once successful Hollywood producer of threatening her after she refused his advances in an elevator.

“He whispered in my ear, ‘don’t tell anyone about this, not your manager, not your agent,'" she wrote. "I got into my car and I cried."

According to Lena, who plays Cersei Lannister in the hit HBO series, Weinstein had previously come onto her at 2005 Venice Film Festival but she had laughed it off.

However, after bumping into him again years later in Los Angeles, and agreeing to have a breakfast meeting, she claimed he invited her up to his room to read a script.

“I had always carried the thought that he’d never try anything with me again,’’ Lena, 44, said. “I believed he respected my boundary.”

The actress however recalled how she immediately felt uncomfortable once she was alone with him and felt the need to reiterate her position.

“We walked to the lift and the energy shifted, my whole body went into high alert," she explained. "The lift was going up and I said to Harvey, ‘I’m not interested in anything other than work.’ He was silent as I spoke, furious.”

Despite allegedly trying to forcefully take her into his room, she said the producer marched her out of the building with his grip on her, as his room keycard wouldn't work.

It was then she says that he told her she had to stay silent about their encounter.

Lena's accusations against the Oscar winning movie producer follow dozens of other female actresses, journalists and industry professionals who have come forward in recent weeks with claims against him.

The FBI and police are said to be working together to investigate at least three alleged rapes.

Light on the alleged serial sexual predator has opened the floodgates on a wider issue of manipulation and sexism in the industry, with actresses such as Jennifer Lawrence and Reese Witherspoon recently coming forward with stories of other abusers in Hollywood.
