MAFS star reveals she was abused
Ever since the social media campaign #metoo started recently, thousands of women have come forward and shared their experience of sexual abuse.
Despite starting in the US in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, Australian women have started coming forward with stories of their own too, including Married at First Sight contestant Zoe Hendrix.
Posting to Instagram, the mum-of-one revealed she'd been abused as a child in an emotional message to her followers.
"For too long this attack has cast a dark and shameful cover over me," she wrote. "I have blamed myself and for decades I have fought an internal battle of shame and guilt."
The 'me too' hashtag takes over social media
She went on to detail the anxiety and depression she has suffered as a result of the alleged incident in her early years, saying it "cast a dark" shadow over her.
"I have been silent in the belief that maybe by burying this disgusting secret I would escape it," she continued. "But it has chased me and I know that only light can drive it out."
The reality star, who found fame in 2015, married her on-screen hubby Alex Garner again in real-life and has since gone on to have a daughter, Harper-Rose.
