She's set to pick the winner of The Bachelorette this week, but does Sophie Monk's heart belong to someone else?

Despite having to choose between Stu, Apollo and Jarrod, New Idea claim the 37-year-old actually has her eye on a handsome Melbourne-based businessman Simon Potts.

A source spills to the mag that the former Bardot singer met Simon in Melbourne before she began filming the reality show earlier this year, and "begged" him to appear on the series as a contender for her heart.

"It started as a bit of fun and Sophie told him pretty early on that she was going to be on the show," the insider tells the publication.

"But they began spending more time together and everyone could see she was falling for him. He had a lot of qualities she liked and was very attracted to him. Also because he wasn't in the industry, it just seemed more perfect."

However despite Sophie's pleas for him to appear on The Bachelorette, the entrepreneur couldn't strike a deal with producers and ultimately told the blonde beauty that their short, but sweet time together had to come to an end.

Poor Sophie, let's hope her Bachelorette suitor isn't just a rebound.
