Justin Timberlake to headline Super Bowl

Justin Timberland has just been announced as the headliner for the 2018 Super Bowl halftime performance.

The singer made the announcement in a pre-recorded sketch with comedian Jimmy Fallon that he shared to his Twitter account.

Though it will be the Grammy award winner's third time performing in the prestigious slot, it is his first time back since that infamous performance with Janet Jackson in 2004.

In case you missed it, Justin had taken to the stage with Janet to sing his track, Rock Your Body.

As the pair danced provocatively to the sexy lyrics, Justin reached over to Janet's leather corset and exposed her right breast which had been adorned with a silver nipple cover.

Though the cheeky flash of flesh was in the last second of the song, the pair were heavily criticised at the time for the deliberate nip slip.

It seems Justin has moved on from the decade old controversy, as he seemed delighted to share the news with his followers.

This is probably because the headline gig will make Justin a record holder too, with it earning him the most appearances by an individual entertainer at the Super Bowl.

He also performed in 2001 as part of the band *NSYNC alongside ex girlfriend Britney Spears..
