George Clooney reveals Amal was sexually harassed

Amid the Harvey Weinstein scandal that has rocked Hollywood, George Clooney has revealed even his wife, Amal Clooney, has been sexually harassed.

The 56-year-old actor spoke candidly about his wife's encounters, saying the human rights lawyer has had to tell people to "knock it off" in her own profession.

"My wife is a very smart, very together, very accomplished human rights lawyer and she said, 'There have been times in my life, in the law community, [that] I had to tell someone to knock it off,' so it happens everywhere," George told Extra.

George added he hoped the allegations leveled at the disgraced movie producer would encourage those in his industry to expose more "predators."

"This wasn’t just guys hitting on girls, this is assault... If we don’t address this and really go after Harvey, it will come back," he added.

"There has to be some good that comes out of all of this and the good is going to have to be that women feel safe to speak up, that they are believed and hopefully be enough that it scares any man who would behave like that from doing it. [Moving forward] Let’s stop having meetings in hotel rooms - you can have it in the restaurant downstairs."

The actor's comments come after he and fellow actor Matt Damon maintained they had no idea of the 65-year-old's actions in Tinseltown, and called their former colleague a "bully".

"When people say, 'Everybody knew,' like yeah, I knew he was an a–hole. He was proud of that. That’s how he carried himself," Matt told Good Morning America.

"I knew he was a womanizer. You know, I wouldn’t want to be married to the guy. But that’s not my business really. This level of criminal sexual predation was not something I ever thought was going on."

Meanwhile George, claims that while he had heard whispers of Harvey having affairs with "some actresses who were friends" he added he had didn't believe the rumours at the time.

"The fact that the story is coming out now and the more it comes out, I want to know all of it," he told the program.
