One fan felt particularly moved, saying "there's a reason we call her Cate the Great."

Cate had previously defended a woman's right to wear what she wants without fear of being sexually harassed in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

"We all like looking sexy," she told the audience. "But it doesn't mean we want to f*ck you."

Cate's words follow the mounting accusations of sexual misconduct against Weinstein, many of which are still coming to light.

Taking the opportunity to encourage women to "feel free to wear what they want," she also thanked the fashion designers who made female empowering clothing.

“I just say, ‘bring it on, ladies!," Cate, 48, said. "Break it wide open. I think you’re all extraordinary.”
