Chris Rock slammed over Harvey Weinstein jokes

Chris Rock is known for his funny one liners and usually has a room laughing in hysterics during his stand-up comedy shows.

But when he appeared at the New York Comedy Cellar on Thursday night the actor was greeted with a chorus of boos after trying out some new material involving sexual harassment which left some women furious.

Chris' open line started with not wanting to hire women anymore because he would need a crew of witnesses around him at all times so he wouldn't be accused of rape, a patron of the MacDouglas Street club told PageSix.

“They cry rape because they want money,” said Chris leaving onlookers shocked.

“Nobody was laughing. There were many boos and many women who were telling him he was a sexist pig. Two people got kicked out," said a female patron.

Chris' friend Jeff Ross who was also an act on the night screamed out, "Talk about growing up in Brooklyn," in an attempt to save his friend from a room of silence.

But the 52-year-old didn't stop there keeping and the Harvey Weinstein case as his topic of choice.

"Weinstein f**ked with me by trying to have me star in the worst movies of all time," he told the crowd of the roles he turned down.

However it seemed 20 minutes of awkward silence from the crowd was enough to get Chris to exit stage left leaving his mate Ross to take the stage.

"Now we got that Chris Rock kid out of the way..." Ross announced.

All we can say is... awkward.
