Lara Bingle cops backlash after marriage equality post
All eyes were on Lara Bingle as she stepped out with husband Sam Worthington on Thursday night as they attended the Los Angeles Gala Dinner in support of the Fred Hollows Foundation.
The model looked sensational in a pink plunging floor-length gown at the gala.
Lara stepped out after she copped some backlash on her post on Instagram about the Australian marriage equality vote.
The 30-year-old posted a photo that read, "The world has bigger problems than boys who kiss boy and girls who kiss girls."
"About time Australia," she captioned the post.
The photo, posted in support of the 'Yes' result, was praised by the majority of commenters for the star's "fabulous message" but some didn't quite see it that way.
"Kinda makes it sound like being gay is a problem," one commenter wrote. "I don't thats what you meant, it's just poorly phrased."
"Minorities aren't a problem, prejudice is the problem," someone else wrote.
Many other celebs also took to social media on Wednesday after the announcement of the 'Yes' vote.
"It's a g'day," Ellen DeGeneres wrote on Twitter. "Way to go Australia. #MarriageEquality".
