Shane Warne's plans to star on Love Island

The brilliant news Love Island is coming to Australia was announced last month and it turns out Shane Warne is keen to take part.

His good mate, fellow retired cricketer Michael Clarke, was the one who spilled the beans while on Nova FM's Fitzy & Wippa Show on Friday.

"There's another show he's been bragging about, Love Island," the 36-year-old told the radio duo. "He wants to host it. I said, 'Host it? You want to go on it!'"

"He wants to pick up the side benefits," Wippa joked about notorious ladies' man Warnie.

However, one reality show Warnie won't be a a part of is The Bachelor.

Last month, the 48-year-old slammed claims that he was "ironing out the finer details" of a prospective $1 million contract with Channel Ten to be the next Bachelor.

“Sophie’s season has done wonders for the network and they are desperate to keep viewers interested,” an insider told New Idea. “And Warnie is Australia’s ultimate bachelor, isn’t he?”

Good ol' Warnie put those rumours to rest straight away, taking to Twitter to say New Idea had "no idea".

"Once AGAIN 'No Idea' has completely made up a story about me being the new bachelor ! (sic)" he wrote.

Shane was previously married to Simone Callahan, whom he has three children with.

The couple eventually split in 2010 after a series of high-profile flings.

He also had a profile relationship with British actress Elizabeth Hurley, announcing their engagement in late 2011 but the pair split in December 2013.

Maybe Love Island could be the answer to Warnie's prayers on his quest for love.
