Both have hinted through their music that they've been affected by cheating during their marriage.
But now Jay-Z has finally admitted committing "infidelity" against his superstar wife, Beyoncé, in a revealing interview with The New York Times.
The hip-hop star, 47, opened up about the incident whilst talking about the scars from his past that he still battles today.
"You have to survive. So you go into survival mode, and when you go into survival mode, what happens?" He said. "You shut down all emotions. So, even with women, you gonna shut down emotionally, so you can't connect."
Then the dad-of-three went on to explain how that his battle led to some bad decisions.
"In my case, like, it's deep," he said. "And then all the things happen from there: infidelity."
It has long been speculated that the couple had been rocked by Jay-Z cheating.
Beyoncé, 36, alluded to the infidelity in her song Lemonade where she referred to "Becky with the good hair."
Jay-Z also hinted at their marriage troubles in his song 4:44.
Opening up, the rapper credited their music as "therapy" that helped them avoid divorce and move on together, but admitted at first it was "very, very uncomfortable."
"The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused," he said. "And then have to deal with yourself."
Things definitely seem to be on the up for the couple.
They recently added to their family with twins, Rumi Carter and Sir Carter and bought a lavish new $178 million home for their family, including five-year-old Blue Ivy, in Bel Air.
