Sophie Monk will host Love Island Australia
We saw Sophie Monk fall in love with Stu Laundy before our eyes earlier this year.
Now it's been announced she will help other hopefuls find 'The One' as the host of Australia's first Love Island to be filmed in Spain.
Talking on Today, the former unlucky-in-love star revealed she is super excited to step into the new role where she's excited to "be on the other side."
"I'm going to be hosting Love Island," Sophie said. "It's so exciting."
Unlike the Bachelor/Bachelorette format, where contestants battle it out for the affections of one highly rated singleton, Love Island has a racier format that allows contestants to swap partners.
"It's just young people, aged 18-25, who are going to hook up on an island," she told hosts Tim Gilbert and Deborah Knight. "They have got to try and last, and you can vote them out if you don't believe they're in love."
Channel Nine released a statement this morning, saying they're thrilled to have Sophie fronting the new dating show.
"Sophie is the perfect fit for Love Island Australia - she’s fun and real," Michael Healy, Nine Director of Television said. "What you see is what you get."
It had been rumoured for weeks that Sophie might be taking the position, which is usually set in a tropical destination.
Yesterday, Sophie shared some painful lessons she'd learnt over the years that she may well be able to pass onto the show's participants.
Talking with Mamamia, the radio-host said she believed "once a cheater always a cheater."
"People change if they want to," Sophie said. "But I think if you've got that in you, to let someone down, you haven't got that guilt button do you?"
Sophie, 37, and Stu made their first red carpet appearance this week, attending the 2017 ARIA awards in Sydney.
