Sophie Monk 'surprised' about relationship rumours

Rumours swirled they had broken up as soon as they got together, and now Sophie Monk has confessed she's "surprised" about the interest in her relationship with Stu Laundy.

Speaking to Nova 100's Chrissie, Sam & Browny on Monday, the 37-year-old Bachelorette star told the radio trio the constant rumours she and the 45-year-old publican were "mental".

"No I love it, every day, its mental," Sophie said jokingly when asked whether she was "tired" of the reports.

And while Australia has a renewed interest in the former Bardot singer after her stint on the reality show, Sophie admitted the speculation did get on her nerves at first.

"It did at the beginning but now it doesn’t," she added. "Every day is something different and because I travel and work all the time you can’t always be together, there will be another story that we’ve broken up as soon as I do another job to be honest.

"You’ve just got to roll with it. I guess at least people are interested.”

Sophie also confessed she had no idea what she was getting herself into by going on The Bachelorette earlier this year saying she was "surprised" by the attention.

"It is a surprise, I didn’t look into the much of other Bachelors or anything, I didn’t know what I was in for but at the same time I’ve lived this my whole life anyway. I’ve never really had a private life that I’ve kept private anyway."

And while they still very much together, Sophie confirmed should the rumours end up to be true and she and Stu split, she'd have no plans to find love again on TV.

"Not if I broke up and had to do it again I wouldn’t do it again, plus I would look like a bit of a tool too. Bit of a deperato for going in again but I did enjoy it all."

Sophie's comments come after New Idea report the reality TV couple are at "breaking point" over the constant relationship speculation.

"She did not look happy," an insider told the magazine about Sophie and Stu's first red carpet appearance at last week's ARIAs. "Sophie looked gaunt and tired as she posed for photos."

The source added that Sophie, despite the constant reassurance she's okay with a life in the spotlight is "struggling with the pressure and the scrutiny" around her love life.
