Sophie Monk lost 'nearly everything'
Sophie Monk shot to fame at 19-years-old as part of Aussie girl group Bardot, and her career has gone from strength-to-strength ever since.
But a few years ago, she lost "nearly everything".
The 37-year-old revealed to news.com.au she gave "too much" responsibility to a friend who fleeced her out of "hundreds of thousands" of dollars.
"Someone ripped off all my money," she told the publication.
She had been living in Los Angeles at the time but it all came crumbling down.
"I gave too much permission [to a friend]," she explained. "I let this person run my banking. You can't sue because I said yes. I signed the papers without reading them."
The new Love Island host admitted she lost "nearly everything" and was forced to move back to Australia and stayed with her parents on the Gold Coast.
However, things took a turn for the good this year when Sophie was announced as the star of The Bachelorette which has now cemented her as Australia's golden girl.
Unfortunately, Sophie has had to deal with some unwarranted rumours about her new romance with Stu Laundy.
Speaking to Nova 100's Chrissie, Sam & Browny on Monday, the star told the radio trio the constant rumours she and the 45-year-old publican were "mental".
"You’ve just got to roll with it," she admitted. "I guess at least people are interested.”
