Danny Masterson: 'I look forward to clearing my name'

Danny Masterson has denied the allegations of sexual assault made against him after being axed from The Ranch.

The 41-year-old actor was first investigated over four seperate claims last year, with the case gathering fresh attention recently following the scandal surrounding Hollywood.

The actor has spoken out after Netflix announced their decision to write him out of their hit comedy show, saying he has denied the "outrageous" allegations from day one and is determined to "clear" his name.

“I am obviously very disappointed in Netflix’s decision to write my character off of The Ranch,” Masterson told The Huffington Post. “From day one, I have denied the outrageous allegations against me."

"I have never been charged with a crime, let alone convicted of one," he continued. "In this country, you are presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, in the current political climate, it seems as if you are presumed guilty the moment you are accused. I understand and look forward to clearing my name once and for all.”

It was first reported earlier this year that the actor, who is best known for his role of Steven Hyde in That '70s Show, was being investigated over four allegations from the 2000s by the Los Angeles Police Department.

According to reports by the HuffPost, the LAPD began investigations before passing the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, where investigations stalled.

But the case garnered renewed attention following the recent Hollywood sexual assault scandal that began with disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein.

As a result of the renewed heat on Masterson, Netflix decided to write his character out of The Ranch, issuing a statement that said he would be written out of the show.

“Netflix and the producers have written Danny Masterson out of The Ranch,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement, according to the New York Post. “Yesterday was his last day on the show, and production will resume in early 2018 without him.”

The police investigation around the claims are still active.

It's not known exactly how The Ranch, which also stars Ashton Kutcher and Sam Eliott, will continue next year.
